THE HURRICANE HARVEY STORIES:
August 27, 2017 - Tamika shares her story of loss and "devastation," and the subsequent sacrifices required to care for herself and her family, but her determination and strength are demonstrated in her story. It took a good deal of time to save enough money for the cost of a significant test to advance her career options, but the adjustments to all the changes from the Hurricane left her with no choice - she had to spend it to survive. Dr. Hope Pamplin, Lead Counselor at HCC Central, conducted the interview and enlisted the assistance of HCC Administration, who waived Tamika's testing fee, allowing her to take the test without cost. These are the rewards within any community - people helping each other in time of need...and sometimes enough to help the other secure greater stability. We respect and appreciation your dedication, Tamika, and thank you for sharing your story.
