Kasey Washington

THE HURRICANE HARVEY STORIES:
 August 27, 2017 - While Kasey was not immediately impacted by Hurricane Harvey, despite having a flooded backyard, his aunt lost everything and was still working to recover from the destruction - 4 months later.  You can hear and see the energy Kasey brings to the world, and appreciation of complex feelings with the consequences from the hurricane.  Even after losing his great-grandmother and grandmother after the flood (5 days apart), he challenges our reactions, "...they would not want us to be sad, but to remember the happy times of their life."  With every tragedy and loss come pain and opportunity, and Kasey honors his grandparents by following their requests; we selected the music for the ending credits respecting Kasey's wish to "be positive."  Thank you Kasey!

This project was completely done using HCC's Digital Storytelling tools as part of HCC's Digital Storytelling initiative. Tools used include WeVideo, Listening Stations, microphones, and iMacs.
