Fashion students learn 3D CAPTURE: SCANNING TECHNIQUES, WORKFLOWS & APPLICATIONS.
Students in professor’s Cheryl Whitaker Fashion Promotion class use 3D scanning techniques to make their creation come alive.
They create 3D version of their designs by capturing volumetric data of their designs in the real world and placing it in the digital one with techniques such as photogrammetry, laser scanning, computer vision, and Artificial Intelligence.
This project is a collaboration of the XR Lab & Studio with the Fashion Design & Merchandising Department as part of the Consumer Arts & Sciences of Center of Excellence.
Students get the opportunity to create 3D scans of their garments and also get hands-on experience with prototyping a project for the web and augmented reality.
